There are a few pastoral stole projects that need to be created in a relatively short period of time. The first stole is a Blue Advent stole. Blue is an alternate liturgical color frequently used by many churches for the season of Advent. The other liturgical color used during Advent is Purple. Since my church has used blue in the past, we will stick with the traditional color selection, and work on the goal of a new vestment set. I started a set last year, but was delayed by work,… Read more Silver Stars for Advent Stole: Part 2 →

After the busy Holy Week and Easter Services, it was time for a quick trip south for a few short days. The days were warm and pleasant, the flowers and trees were in blossom, and everything was green. Nothing is in bloom yet in Minnesota, so I will have the chance to re-enjoy spring a second time later this year. Now that I am back, and waiting for spring number two, it is time to resume work on a few Ecclesiastical Sewing projects. The answers to these questions in part may depend on the denomination of the clergy member. For simplicity’s sake, let’s focus on two different… Read more What Vestments Does a Priest or Pastor Need? →

Washing and Ironing. Two words I usually Do Not Enjoy, especially when put together. I used to iron everything years ago, the way my mother taught me, and her mother before her…but then life got busy. Now, ironing is a reserved activity for something truly special: the mens’ suits, daughter’s dresses, and my above the normal clothes. As the events of the past two days turn out, there was a special reason to be ironing. The reason? Ecclesiastical Linen. That’s right. Linen. Linen is the reason for doing the laundry today.… Read more Wash on Friday, Iron on Saturday →
