Blessed Virgin Mary Monogram and Stoles
Blessed Virgin Mary Monogram and Stoles: It rained today. It was as if the heavens shared our sorrow and cried tears of their own. Today a dear friend was laid in eternal rest to await the Resurrection. Yet the day did not leave us without hope. Our Dear Friend’s Priest preached the words of hope and forgiveness from Christ our Lord.
Funerals are becoming a thing of the past, but how good the funeral service is for the living! God’s Word is there – filled with promises and comfort amid our sorrow. While we mourn the loss of our friend, we rejoice that she is free from the pain and suffering, and resting in the arms of her Savior.
This stole was a gift given as a memorial to my dear friend’s church. Her priest read the vesting prayer that is said when they put on their stole. The prayer was so fitting for today.
Lord, restore the stole of immortality, which I lost through the collusion of our first parents,
and, unworthy as I am to approach Thy sacred mysteries, may I yet gain eternal joy. Amen
