Good Friday Pulpit Fall
This past Easter-Easter 2014-, a new set of Altar Hangings was created for my home church. This is a photo of the Ecclesiastical Sewing Project featuring a Good Friday Pulpit Fall in black and gold. Completed in April 2014, the fabric choice was Black Fairford for the base Ecclesiastical Fabric, with orphreys, was done in Black/Gold Wakefield, trimmed with Black/Gold dice trim. The fabrics and trim are traditional Ecclesiastical Fabrics used for Church Embroidery which were imported from the United Kingdom and are available at our online store Ecclesiastical Sewing.
The project includes an Altar Frontal with an attached Superfrontal and the Pulpit Fall. Additional pieces of a stole, chasuble, maniple, burse, veil, and banners will be completed in time for Ash Wednesday 2015. The Black Church Vestment set and Altar Frontal is used twice during the church year in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. (Research is also being done to determine the historical use of Black Vestments and hangings during funeral services.)
As the remaining pieces of the Good Friday Vestments are constructed, I will be sure to keep you up to date on the progress of this Ecclesiastical Sewing Project.
Soli Deo Gloria
