Chelmsford Silk Damask Fabric for Church Vestments
Chelmsford Silk Damask Fabric for Church Vestments
Created in the Geoffrey Webb style, this silk damask pattern is a reversible small turnover design that dates to the 1920s. The size and scale of the design in this fabric make it ideal for use in constructing all types of liturgical vestments, from clergy stoles and priest chasubles to copes, altar hangings, and more.
High-Quality Silk Damask
This damask, made from high-quality silk with its small floral motif, makes the perfect background for liturgical hand embroidery projects as well. The fabric has a soft drape and hand that falls in lovely folds. It is extremely soft, light, and breathable while ironing well and extremely strong. The silk fibers make this a truly special fabric.
We recently made a lovely little altar frontal out of ivory Chelmsford, featuring a small cross-leaf embroidery design. It is an unbelievably beautiful piece without being overwhelming or too busy, and it would fit most settings extremely well.
“And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.”— Psalm 90:17 (NKJV)
